Explore the cultural fabric of this wonderful destination Japan. Visit Kyoto known as the cultural capital due to its numerous temples and shrines.
Explore castle towns such as Matsuyama, Himeji and Matsumoto which still display signs of their samurai past.
Stroll through exquisite gardens or step back in time as you journey through the beautiful mountain villages of Takayama and Shirakawa-go.
Emerging from the ruins of warfare are the historical cities of Nagasaki and Hiroshima which have both made their mark on the international stage.
Sample one of the oldest Japanese onsen’s while still embarking on extraordinary cities such as Tokyo and Osaka which still display evidence of their traditions against a modern backdrop.
All of this is done while you eat and dine your way through Japan whilst travelling on one of the worlds most famous railway networks.
Day 01 Arrive Tokyo
Day 02 Tokyo: Full day sightseeing tour including Asakusa Kannon, Meiji Shrine, Imperial Palace, Tokyo Observation Deck, Ginza District, Sumida River Cruise.
Day 03 Tokyo: Early morning tour of Tsukiji Fish Market Tokyo. Kamakura walking tour including Hase Kannon Temple and Tsurugaoko Hachimangu Shrine.
Day 04 Tokyo – Nagasaki: Domestic flight to Nagasaki including a sightseeing tour of the city.
Day 05 Nagasaki: Full day sightseeing tour visiting Nagasaki National Peace Memorial Hall and Atomic Bomb Museum, Glover Garden, Confucius Shrine, Oura Church.
Day 06 Nagasaki – Fukuoka – Hiroshima: Brief sightseeing tour of Fukuoka including Kushida Shrine and Canal City.
Day 07 Hiroshima: Miyajima Island and Hiroshima Peace Park and Museum.
Day 08 Hiroshima – Matsuyama: Ferry across the Japan Inland Sea to Matsuyama. Walking tour of Matsuyama including Matsuyama Castle. Tonight visit the oldest onsen in Japan – Dogo Springs.
Day 09 Matsuyama – Himeji – Kyoto: Visit Himeji Castle and evening walking tour of Gion Geisha District.
Day 10 Kyoto: Full day sightseeing tour including Nijo Castle, Golden Pavilion, Kiyomizudera Temple, Fushimi Inari Shrine.
Day 11 Kyoto: Full day sightseeing tour to Nara including Nara Deer Park, Todai-ji (Great Buddha), Kasuga Shrine, Horyuji Temple.
Day 12 Kyoto: Morning tour of Osaka including Osaka Castle and Dotombori-dori. Afternoon at leisure to explore the region of Kyoto.
Day 13 Kyoto - Koya-san: Okuno-in Cemetery and Temple, Kongobu-ji Temple. Overnight Temple stay accommodation.
Day 14 Koya-san – Takayama: Buddhist Morning Prayer Service. Afternoon walking tour of Takayama including Sanmachisuji District and evening onsen visit.
Day 15 Takayama: Explore the morning markets located in Takayama. Full day sightseeing tour to Shirakawa-go.
Day 16 Takayama – Matsumoto: Free time in Kamikochi and also afternoon visit to Matsumoto Castle.
Day 17 Matsumoto: Travel to Tsumago and tour Tsumago a village where no cars are allowed.
Day 18 Matsumoto – Tokyo: Afternoon at leisure to explore Tokyo and its numerous attractions.
Day 19 Depart for Australia. Optional Kusatsu & Nikko Passengers day at leisure to explore Tokyo.
Day 20 Tokyo – Kusatsu: Walking tour of Kusatsu and afternoon at leisure to enjoy the village or the local onsen’s.
Day 21 Kusatsu – Nikko: Visit the World Heritage listed Nikko Toshogu Shrine. Evening in a traditional Japanese style ryokan accommodation including dinner.
Day 22 Nikko – Tokyo: Arrival at Tokyo around midday where the tour will conclude. Depart for Australia.
